Background

The Roll of Honour is a listing of people who have played a part in the shaping of Tasmania. It is not an exhaustive list by any means and is only a sample of the entries that will be published in the forthcoming Companion to Tasmanian History.

The Companion to Tasmanian History is an encyclopedia with 750 entries covering all aspects and all geographical areas of Tasmania's history. Written in a non-academic, accessible style, it will be invaluable to students, politicians, journalists and anyone wanting to find out about Tasmanian history.

The Companion to Tasmania History is being published by the Centre for Tasmanian Historical Studies at the University of Tasmania and will be available for purchase in 2005.

This work was supported by the Bicentenary Grants Program.
